Salut!

 It has been eleven weeks since I went in to have my hip fully replaced after more than eighteen months of recovery from being hit by a car.  My leg is slowly getting stronger and while there is still a way to go, I feel like I am finally starting to regain a true sense of independence.  I am so very thankful to all my family and friends who have kept my spirits up during a very difficult time in my life. I have appreciated all the kind wishes, prayers and notes from my blogging friends as well.  You have truly been a blessing.

While I spent much of my summer on the couch, now that I am up and moving more freely, I am fully enjoying all the sights, sounds and smells of Autumn.  That has included putting away the summer pillows, flowers and candles and replacing them with the beautiful golds, reds and bronzes that I truly love the best.

A pumpkin patch on the desk.

 Fall leaves arranged in a vase.

I have made a new centerpiece for the dining room table.

~~~~~
Looking back over the summer we did take one small trip just a few weeks before my surgery.  We drove over the mountains to the little Western themed town of Winthrop located on the east side of the Cascades.
  While we were there we wandered into a little gift shop that was filled with these lovely pear shaped candles.
About 15 years ago I saw some candles similar to these in a little shop in Arizona.  I liked them but decided not to buy them at the time.  For years afterward I searched and searched for them both in gifts shops and on line but could never find anything like them again.  So when I spotted these I was pretty excited, and naturally I made sure some came home with me. I knew they would make a perfect addition to my autumn decorating.   I picked up two yellow ones the first day and then went back the next day and picked up three more in other colors.  Right now, I just have the two ones on display but I will definitely be finding a place to display the others as well.
~~
So, I added these other candles but I am not sure I really like this display.  I think I might add some small pumpkins instead.  What do you think?
Hopefully, as I continue to get stronger you will hear from me more often.  Meanwhile, I wish each of you a joy filled and blessed day.
Adieu!
  1. Hello! So good to see you back on the blog, and also to hear of your progress and recovery. The Autumn decor is lovely; it's my favorite time of the year too. Those pear candles are perfect - they add something unique to the display. I think they look nice with all five of them there, but maybe also add a couple of pumpkins to the mix. The only problem with Autumn displays is they are so soon replaced with Christmas!
    1. Thank you. Yes, that display is starting to grown on me. It still needs something though. I think I will take up your suggestions and just add a few pumpkins to the mix. We will have a few weeks to enjoy the autumn. Hard to believe how quickly the Advent/Christmas season will be upon us.
I think you will know what to do with the display as time goes on, I like it's progression!!! I have 6 of those pear shaped candles! summer and winter ones (winter being red and green)... I got the first one for my wedding and then found more at a store and got those two, with wedding $ when we were newly married!
    1. Thank you so much Elizabeth! You have been so kind and supportive. I am looking forward to seeing what plans God may have for me in the future. I really like those candles. Now that I know who makes them I can order some more when I am looking for other colors. I hear they burn beautifully too, but I not quite ready to check that out yet!
    1. Thank you Nancy. While I am still using a cane, I am getting stronger everyday and Lord willing I will be strong enough to walk without it very soon. I do love my candles! I hope you are feeling better.
  4. I was so pleased when you left a comment on one of my recent blog posts and blessed to know that you're recovery and healing is going well. You have been in my thoughts and prayers, but wasn't sure how mobile you were. It must have been a blessing to go out to Winthrop and find those candles. Your Autumn decorations are lovely. I think you do more seasonal displays around the home than in the UK as you have Thanksgiving Day although shop windows here have displays and pumpkins are becoming popular. Church communities have a harvest festival which is similar to Thanksgiving. We're having some health issues, but thankfully stay fairly mobile. Love from Linda xx
    1. Hello Linda, Yes, I enjoyed getting back to your blog after such a long absence. Thank you for your kind thoughts and prayers. I prefer decorating for harvest rather than Halloween as it can last from September until the Advent Season in December. I must admit that not everyone gets into seasonal decorating quite as much as I do. I just think that if God has given us the gift of seasons outside why not enjoy them inside as well. The kids all enjoy it too. Thank you for stopping by.
  5. How nice to meet up with you via our blogs. Thank you for leaving a comment on my post so I could find you. May God continue the healing from your hip surgery and accident. So sorry about you being hit by a car. Yikes! And on the decorating front...I think a couple pumpkins would be nice with your pear candles.
