Thankful Thursday - A summer morning

For the first time in weeks I find a moment to sit and savor the quiet of an early summer morning.  It's peaceful.  The low harmonic tones of the wind chimes whisper softly in the breeze.

A bird sits chirping in the branches of the maple tree. I look for movement but it is deeply hidden in the green leaves.  Perhaps it's talking to its mate or perhaps it's just giving its own thanks for a beautiful day.

The sun sparkles on the ripples of the lake in the distance. The clouds form a swirling backdrop to the mountain peak. The trees have grown up over the years, and we don't see the mountains or lake as well as we used to, but the knowledge of their presence is still with us.

What joy to be able to embrace the stillness of a summer morning, to reflect on God's love and blessings from the past few weeks and to hold close to my heart his graciousness towards me.

Family Outing to Deception Pass

This past fourth of July weekend was a perfect time for our family to come together for a drive up to Deception Pass and the lookout at Fort Ebey State Park on Whidbey Island. While our youngest wasn't able to make it, our two older children and their families all met up together for breakfast at Ellie's Restaurant by the airfield in Arlington. While we waited for our table the grandchildren were able to play together in the grass next to the runway.

After breakfast, we made our way up to the island.  While the views from Deception Bridge are amazing, we decided that with all the little ones in our group it would be safer to view the bridge from below.

Our daughter is so happy to have left the Georgia heat and spend some time with her siblings back in the Northwest.

And we are loving have all our grandchildren together.

Moving from the beach to the bluff at Fort Ebey. We could see the Olympic Mountains across the sound to the peninsula.

I was too busy playing with the kids to think about taking too many photos but, it was so nice to take a little break from all the busyness of getting ready for our youngest son's wedding next week. We are now in the midst of the final preparations for the wedding rehearsal dinner. There is much to think about and much to do and so now I will bid you all

Adieu!
