This beautiful weather has given me a chance to get outside and enjoy a little gardening. I can only be on my knees for short periods, but little bits of time can all add up. On Friday one of my girl friends came over to help me do some weeding in the back yard. When I had done all I could do, we went shopping for some plants to fill the pots in the front of the house followed by lunch at The Bakery in Snohomish. It was past the lunch rush so we had the place pretty much to ourselves. That meant we were able to sit by a window overlooking the street.
Over the weekend our youngest came over. While he and his dad washed the cars I was able to pot the plants I had picked up on Friday. I also repotted a little Flaming Bush seedling I had planted a couple of years ago.
This is the old bench from the back yard. It will be a good place to sit and read a book on a summer afternoon. The giant teacup planter was a gift from my daughter for Mother's Day a couple of years ago. I love the bright colors.
That's about all that's been going on with me. Life is quiet at the moment as I try to catch up with a few things and prepare for the surgery I will be having this summer to replace the hip that was damaged last year. I hope we can take a short trip up into the mountains for a couple of days before that happens. Meanwhile, we are just enjoying each day as it comes. God is good. Blessings to each of you. Adieu!
Dear one God bless you and I pray that the surgery goes well! I love those pictures and it is wonderful that you are able to do even this much! The bench and that big tea cup planter are so lovely!!! I love all colours (other than dark grey and black for anything outside of clothes) and I love yellows and reds... but also whites and blues! :) a big HUG and lots of love!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you Elizabeth. Yellow and red are two of my favorite colors for the garden too. I am really enjoying the sunshine and being able to be outdoors.
DeleteI am glad you are enjoying some fine weather and can get a little gardening done. I always find it very therapeutic puttering around in a garden. Things are looking very colorful and pretty at your house. My sweet tooth and I remember The Bakery - and their delicious pies. I hope the upcoming weeks continue in a peaceful and quiet way and are filled with opportunities for enjoyment of all the blessings that surround you.
ReplyDeleteThanks Sara, You will need to come up and visit again and we will go there and enjoy one of their delicious scones with tea on the outdoor patio.
ReplyDeleteI love lilac. There are lilac bushes in next-door-neighbour's large garden which extends all the way down the lane beside our house. The fragrance is so delicate and the flowers beautiful. There are different small tasks to do in the garden, but we do a little at a time. I'm so glad that you've been able to enjoy your garden and also get out-and-about. I'm meeting a friend today. We'll go to a café in our local high street and have a chat. The weather is dry and I expect my husband will potter in the garden. A bench needs a coat of paint to brighten it up and preserve the wood. Isn't it a blessing to have somewhere to sit in the garden? Blessings to you and your family.
ReplyDeleteHello Linda, We are back to rain which is desperately needed as the early spring heat is melting our snow pack up in the mountains. That could mean drought this summer and more wildfires. Praying it won't be so. The garden is fast outrunning me! But I try to do what I can and leave the rest for when, God willing, I will be more limber and able to keep at it for longer periods of time. Blessings to you and I hope you had a wonderful day with your friend.
ReplyDeleteHi Gloriade, Since this was dated in May I wonder if you had your hip surgery and how you are doing? The flowers are gorgeous. I had a teapot planted in blue similar to yours. I don't know what happened to it. Maybe got broke. Yours look very pretty there. Nancy
