A Summer Sunset on Independence Day

We have been having a very long hot summer, breaking records for the month of June with temps up into the 90's.  With all that heat came a sense of lethargy, lots of iced tea and afternoon naps and figuring out ways to keep cool. Now that things have cooled down I would like to share a bit of our summer with you.

Living up on the hill we have just a "peekaboo" view of the lake.

However we are blessed with wonderful friends who live on the lake and with whom we recently spent a lovely summer day in celebration of the 4th of July.  There were about 30 young people all gathered down by the shore enjoying the water and setting off fireworks while us "old folks" sat up above on the decks.

One of the best parts of the day for me was watching the sunset, something we can't really see from our house.

Through the unbrella on the deck casting light on the water.

And with the setting of the sun, soon there were fireworks all around the lake as people gathered to celebrate our Independence Day. This was taken from a neighbor's dock. Now imagine hundreds of fireworks just like this being set off all around the lake.  It's a spectacular light show that went on for several hours.  So here is a thank you to God for giving us such a wonderful place in which to live and here is wishing you wonderful summer memories.

 Wishing you beautiful summer memories.

  2. I love sunsets but with all the trees around our house we don't get to see many of them.

  3. It must have been wonderful to be somewhere out in the open to see the sunset over the water and enjoy the time with friends. The views from your house of the lake are also special.
