Spring in my own back Yard

I am afraid that my gardening skills are rather limited and I would be inclined to call our three quarter acre lot a yard rather than a garden.  It has been an extra blessing to have so much space to spread out into during this interesting time. I have been enjoying our Spring season even more than usual these past few weeks.  These are just a few photos I have been taking from day to day.

~~
These lilacs grow between our back side yard and the neighbor's home and next to our garden shed.  They create beauty and privacy at the same time.

The little picket fence in the background surrounds our neighbor's vegetable garden.

Our view from the back of our property across the lake and out to the Cascades.

Watching a thunder storm roll in.  Five minutes after I took this photo the lightning was flashing and rain was pouring down.

The golden chain tree in full bloom.  The gravel drive leads past the neighbor's home in front.

The rhododendron in full color in the back corner by the Dogwood tree.

An afternoon sky looking through the trees.

Looking out across the back to the fruit trees on another rainy afternoon.  As you can see there is still much weeding left to be done!!

Finally, there is nothing more beautiful than these two blossoms my beautiful granddaughters, ages 3 and 8 months.  Since we couldn't celebrate together at Easter we had a  family celebration and May basket egg hunt on Mother's Day.

May each of us bloom in the place the Lord has planted us, and  may the Lord bless and keep each one who comes here.

Adieu!

  2. You have three quarters of a acre!! I have a bout a third of that. I would love to have three quarters of an acre, think of all the roses I could have in it along with a wildlife pond. I am so envious, you are so lucky to have that much.

    1. Many people have moved into the area over the years so it's very nice to have such a large lot. There are still ten acres of open space behind us which makes it feel even more country like. We love it here but it is getting harder for us to keep up, especially since my accident 2 1/2 years ago. Lord willing, we will be able to continue to enjoy living here for years to come.

  3. You have a beautiful garden with lots of space which must be a blessing. Here we would call it a garden because there are many lovely trees and flowering shrubs. Here a yard is a space that has a concrete or paved area and in a garden might be classed as a courtyard. Mostly it's a term used for an industrial or warehouse site. Our covered yard is really an enclosed space more like a conservatory where we can sit or grow pot plants. How lovely to be able to see your grandchildren! They grow so quickly so it's good that they live close by. We miss all of our grandchildren living a long distance from us and not being able to travel is very difficult for all of us to cope with right now. We enjoy seeing our local grandson when our daughter drives over to see us, but socialize from a safe distance. He stays at home doing college homework while our daughter is working at the hospital and it's a lonely experience. His sister is still far away doing her university degree studies. We pray that a safe vaccine can be found that will eradicate this virus, but I think that's a long way off yet. Every blessing to you and your family Gloria.

  4. Thank you Linda, It sounds like even though there are other parts of our state that can begin opening soon, our county will not be one of them. I am so grateful our children and grandchildren live nearby. We limit the time that we see each other but at least we can. We do look forward to the time when we can travel around safely.

  5. Spring has really sprung in your neighborhood! So many beautiful blooms, blossoms, and colors. And those lilacs! Wish I could breath in that special fragrance. Your two especially precious blossoms at the end of the post are the best of all!

  8. We have lived in this house for over 30 years. Hard to believe sometimes! Some plants and trees have been here for 60 years or more, but many were planted during our early years when we first came here to live. The lilacs were just sticks! I remember that dogwood tree was just a little four foot sprig when we first planted it. It grew up here right along with our children.
